Online Prescription Ordering
We are a dispensing practice. Both the Driffield and Wetwang surgeries have their own dispensary. Under NHS regulations we are only allowed to dispense medicines to patients who live more than one mile from a chemist.
Repeat prescriptions requests for non-dispensing patients
are processed within 2 working days.

In line with national policy we will only prescribe one month’s supply of medication at a time, with the exception of the contraceptive pill and hormone replacement therapy.
We can arrange for your medication to be sent to Middleton Post Office, this is a voluntary service offered by the Post Office. Please speak to one of our receptionists if you wish to use this service.
If you have an arrangement with a chemist to collect your prescription from the surgery please inform staff when the prescription is ordered.
Prescription charges are payable on collection of your medicines. We accept cash and debit card as payment. If you are exempt from paying prescription charges you will be asked for proof of exemption.

Review of Repeat Medication
If you are a new patient with us and are on repeat medication, you will need to arrange a telephone appointment to see a GP who will review your medication with you. Medication reviews are done annually for all patients prescribed a repeat medication. The doctors can sometimes do this by reviewing your record or you may be asked to come in
routinely to discuss your medication with a doctor or a nurse.
Minor Ailment Scheme
You can ask your chosen pharmacist for advice on minor ailments and if it is appropriate you may be able to buy medicines over the counter without having to see the doctor.
All three pharmacies in Driffield (Tesco, Lloyd’s and Boots) are taking part in the NHS Minor Ailment Scheme and therefore can offer advice and treat minor conditions. Please speak to the pharmacy directly for further information.
NHS 111 is available 24/7 to give health advice by telephone or on-line.
If you have been prescribed a medication which is not on repeat prescription, this is called an ACUTE prescription, for example antibiotics are usually issued as an ACUTE prescription as you would only usually require the medication once, you wouldnt need to order it monthly. If you have been issued an ACUTE prescription but would like to reorder it, this is done at the discretion of the doctor. You do need to contact the surgery directly to order an ACUTE prescription.
The doctor may decide not to issue a prescription if he feels this is not required or because purchasing the medication ‘over the counter’ may be more cost effective. Advice or alternative treatment may also be recommended.
