Please can patients note that the current position of our local area commissioners, the Humber & North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is that Mounjaro, Wegovy, and other similar weight loss drugs must not be prescribed for weight loss in Primary Care (via your GP).
The ICB is currently considering commissioning a new Local Enhanced Service (LES) for this purpose, after which Primary Care may be able to offer an appropriate drug, with supporting advice. However even then, it is likely that the drug will only initially be made available to patients with a BMI over 40 and 4 weight related comorbidities.
As this new LES has not yet been commissioned, the practice needs to follow the current advice from our commissioners (ICB) which means that we cannot prescribe these types of drug for weight loss, despite what information may be in circulation in the media.
