Accidents and Injuries

As a GP surgery we are unable to appropriately treat injuries, this includes bites, stings, suspected fractures, head injuries, cuts/grazes, sprains/strains, burns etc.

The 2 nearest A&E departments are at Hull Royal Infirmary and Scarborough Hospital.  These are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for EMERGENCY treatment.

 
Urgent Care Centres



Urgent Care Centres can be found at the East Riding Community Hospital in Beverley and Bridlington Hospital, and are open 7am to 11pm, seven days a week, 365 days per year.  The Urgent Care Centres can see and treat the following conditions:
 
· Simple broken bones
· Minor head injuries
· Minor eye injuries (foreign bodies in eye)
· Back, head and neck injuries/whiplash
· Minor back injuries
· Skin infections/rashes/allergic reactions
· Urine infections
· Raised temperature/fever
· Cuts and grazes
· Sprains and strains
· Wounds and wound infections
· Minor burns and scalds
· Insect and animal bites


 
Driffield 8 to 8 Centre
 
Alfred Bean Hospital in Driffield operates an 8 to 8 Centre for the following minor conditions:


· Cuts and grazes
· Sprains and strains
· Wound and wound infections
· Minor burns and scalds
· Minor head injuries
· Insect and animal bites
 
The 8 to 8 Centre can ONLY be accessed by calling 111.  They do not operate a walk-in service of any kind at Alfred Bean Hospital


 
Patients can walk into an Urgent Care Centre however, advice from the local Clinical Commissioning Group is to ‘talk before you walk’ by contacting NHS 111 and, where appropriate, a clinical advisor will assess symptoms, provide advice and guidance or decide what medical help is needed, advise where to go and if needed arrange an appointment.
